This is about a 45 minute drive but the steaks are mighty-fine! It's an old cowboy movie set that is now a steak house. Prime rib is one of their specialties. The sunsets - amazing! Gotta take a selfie!

Hilltop overlooking the United States and Mexico. Do this during the day for safety. Some of the neighborhood kids have been known to start trouble at this location during the night. It's a great place to take a selfie.

The El Paso Mission Trail is a 9-mile historic corridor that connects two of the oldest continuously operated missions in the United States (Ysleta Mission and Socorro Mission) and a historic presidio chapel (San Elizario Presidio Chapel). The two mission churches of Ysleta and Socorro and the presidio chapel of San Elizario, located along the El Paso Mission Trail, stand as enduring symbols of the long and rich history of their respective communities, as well as the nations of Spain, Mexico and the United States. All three are privately owned by the Catholic Diocese and are actively supported by their local parishes. These landmarks and their environs are listed in the National Register Historic Places. Socorro Road (FM 258), which runs from Ysleta to Socorro to San Elizario, is the designated Mission Trail. This nine-mile route represents a segment of El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro (Royal Road of the Interior), the historic trail that extended from Mexico City to Santa Fe, and linked the missions,-agricultural communites, haciendas(landed estates) and presidios (military forts) to distant trade and supply routes. It is thr oldest and once the longest road in North America, and was designated as a National Historic Trail in 2000.

Rising from the heart of the Tularosa Basin is one of the world's great natural wonders - the glistening white sands of New Mexico. Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed 275 square miles of desert, creating the world's largest gypsum dunefield. White Sands National Monument preserves a major portion of this unique dunefield, along with the plants and animals that live here.

Entertainment & Activities

Triple-A Pacific Coast league baseball stadium - Home of the El Paso Chihuahuas! Listed as the best new ball park in 2014 by Ballpark Digest. We locals have a saying "Fear the Ears!" referring to the ferocity of the little Chihuahua dogs. There's usually open seating on the lawn. Fun night out.
