I'm a big fan of the lemon grass fried chicken soba salad from this chain that grew out of a food truck. They're always trying new things, and I've never been disappointed

Great woman-owned fish market that sells delicious takeout dinners and soups. Pick up some bread from Formaggio next door, and you've got a great dinner!

So old school! Workerbees and retirees have their regular weekday tables, and families come early on weekends for breakfast and their favorite donuts. I love the family who has owned and run the place for as long as anyone can remember.

How many neighborhoods have their very own chocolatier? EH Chocolatier, at 145 Huron Ave., is an easy walk. If you go on a Saturday, don't miss Formaggio Kitchen's Saturday sidewalk barbecue, with ribs, fried chicken, and all the sides at 244 Huron Ave. Or stop at High Rise Bakery (208 Concord Ave) for great sandwiches and baked goods. Eat in or have a picnic on the river. And be sure to check out Village Kitchen, Fishmonger, and kid-friendly Full Moon, all local, independent, and just a few blocks from home. Three blocks in the other direction, Ma Magoo's is the place for teens and sub fans. The local working man's favorite for decades.
