In the summer the Oxley has a fantastic patio and in the winter the warm and cozy downstairs restaurant serves superior English pub food. Upstairs is a snug pub that is so charming it is a must-visit in the neighbourhood.

Beautiful Ethiopian Fare in a casual dining atmosphere - ask to sit upstairs if it's open. This is also a great option for take-away. If you have never had Ethiopian food before - be aware that the injera bread is so delicious you will want to eat it all but it continues to expand after consumed and you will feel very full half an hour after you eat.

Neighbourhoods

Queen Street West is known for its unique shopping, art galleries, bars and restaurants. Start at Trinity Bellwoods park, bring a reusable coffee cup and get it filled at one of the excellent coffee places that surround the Queen St side of the Park. Then walk West as far as your interest takes you. You will eventually come to Parkdale which is one of the city's most up and coming neighbourhoods.

The Dim Sum and Dumpling restaurants are my favourites in Chinatown, vegetable markets, unique stores, Escape Rooms, as well as The AGO. There is a beautiful park behind the AGO and OCADwith a great play structure for kids. Chinatown is also very close to Kensington Market so you could see both in one day of sightseeing.

A Hippy haven with awesome restaurants, bars, breweries, shops, vintage clothing stores, a cowboy boot store, coffee shops, army surplus, and cafes. You'll find some of the best Mexican fare here.

You can bring a picnic or eat at one of the restaurants dotted across the islands. There are several beaches, marinas, walking trails, playgrounds, and concerts play here throughout the summer. One of the city's most beautiful parks, you can walk around the park for most of the day, paddle boat on the mini lake, check out the zoo, go swimming in the public pool, check out the massive play ground for kids. In the summer, the park's amphitheatre is home to Shakespeare in High Park - a professional Shakespeare production which is modelled after Joseph Papp's Public Theatre in NY. It is pay-what-you-can with a suggested donation of $20 per person.
