The first time I came to Texas, a friend told me that I couldn't come to Texas without going to Rudy's BBQ. Man, he was right.
Rudy's is a Texas icon and every person who comes to Texas needs to go at least once. This is a great restaurant with a great "hole in the wall" feel to it.
People love to come Rudy's and eat real Texas BBQ inside or outside on the picnic benches.

Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q

Another Texas icon is Torchy's Tacos. Originating in Austin, Texas where they "Keep things weird," Torchy's Tacos is the best Taco joint in the world! Of course, that is just my humber opinion.
The best taco on the menu, "The Independant." It's vegitarian. Don't let that stop you though. It is to die for (in a good way of course)!
Make sure to buy a bottle of Torchy's Tacos hot sauce while you are there. It is the best hot sauce I have ever had.

6626 W Loop 1604 NThis is another Texas classic, I think. It's a Texas classic to me. This is a fantastic restaurant with a great bar, and modern atmosphere.
This is my favorite place for happy hour type outings with a light meal. If you catch them on the right night, they will have live music on the patio.
You can't come to Texas without having Tex-Mex food. Mama Margie’s is a great place to go to for informal / casual dining. Order your favorite dish at the counter (don't forget a beer or a margherita), get some free and fresh hot tortilla chips and salsa and hang out with your friends or family.
By the way, this is Texas, for breakfast we eat tacos too. Bean and cheese, bacon and egg, potato and egg, egg and chorizo, sausage and egg, or barbaquoa. Try these for breakfast instead of a donut shop or McDonalds. You won't regret it!

Mama Margies Mexican Restaurant

Order your favorite dish at the counter (don't forget a beer or a margherita), get some free and fresh hot tortilla chips and salsa and hang out with your friends or family.

This is our favorite place to go at night.....after the kids are in bed of course. This is a "happening" and authentic Texas country bar. It's not a sleepy bar by any means. Plan on ordering your favorite drink, dancing with your sweetie, and listening to high quality live Texas country music. We come here to go dancing a couple of times a month. It's really the best country bar in town!

This is a great private campground on the Medina River. It is a popular place to go where you can camp, rent a canoe or kayak and just hang out. You will have a great time. I promise.
