Excellent local Portuguese cooking. Family style. About 6km from the cottage, on N8, in the direction of Caldas da Rainha, on the right. Portions are generally large. A serving, or "doce" (pronounced "dose"), can often serve 2 people. Specialties include "javoli" (wild boar), balcalhao (codfish), "polvo" (octopus), and "espedada" (get the beef one - the "mista" is a mix of beef + pork). Note: you enter thruthe the bar, which might look "dumpy". Keep walking - the restaurant is in the back.

Almost famous regional restaurant. Also decent Portuguese dishes at a good cost. We have met people in Lisbon who named it as an example of a true good "countryside restaurant".
