Druridge Bay Country Park- (dog friendly) choose to walk on the beach, around the lake or if you like bird watching walk along the gravel path to various bird hides. There is also a visitor centre which offers refreshments but our favourite place to eat in the area is Artique Cafe if you like home…
Very local conservation area. Rare bird sightings. Great wildlife and amazing beach which is great for walks or wind sports.
Great for dog walks but also lots of water activities including kayaking, sailing, paddle boards - all pre booked. The beach is nearby too.
Beautiful walks, both around the lake and the nearby beach. The beach is within 5 minutes walk of the visitor centre, and is another example of an unspoilt sandy beach. The visitor centre sells basic but reasonably priced food and drinks.

“Even if you're not religious this Abbey is spectacular for the architecture alone! One can visit to pray and admire until 5pm. The Saxon Vault is well worth the steep steps down! The Abbey sometimes holds events like plays or music too. Entry is free but donations are always much appreciated. The shop is also worth a visit for a keepsake. ”
