Going to see the Detroit Industry Murals by Diego Rivera is reason enough to visit the DIA.
The Diego Rivera mural is worth the price of admission by itself, but the musem's collection is huge and well worth seeing. Allow plenty of time!
So it's not the MET, or the Louvre, but it's worth it. It has murals by Diego Rivera,Van Gogh, and some other masterpieces that give an amazing context to past and future artistic experiences.
A must see while in Detroit, the museum boasts works by Picasso, Van Gough, and Diego Rivera. The Rivera Court is breathtaking and The Kresge court downstairs is worth a visit.
The Detroit Institute of Arts, located in Midtown Detroit, Michigan, has one of the largest and most significant art collections in the United States

“Wander the paths, kayak through the gorgeous canals, set up a BBQ on the beach, get a game of baseball or soccer going...this is a great summer spot. What I love most about Belle Isle is the diversity of the people who come to enjoy it. It's truly a great reminder that we're all the same, that we all want to enjoy life, that we're all here together :)”
