Lorry is known as an Oslo-institution, it’s been in business since 1870 and it’s decorated with stuffed animals (among others a giraffe), paintings, and a dinosaur tooth. The menu is very traditional, and the restaurant is always packed. Try to get a table in a booth downstairs and let the formally dressed waiters guide you through the menu. Lorry is also known to be a popular spot for political and cultural elite; you might be sitting next to a Norwegian celebrity without knowing. Expect to pay 300 NOK for a main course. Nothing is as satisfying as going for a sit-down dinner and a beer at 2 in the morning (midnight fish’n’ chips is 190 NOK).
