From any headland or hilltop lookout along the coast north of Coffs Harbour, you will see some of the offshore islands known as the Solitary Islands which stretches to the Sandon River. It offers lots of recreational activities. Beaches, boating, dolphin and whale watching, fishing, scuba diving and snorkelling.

Do the Solitary Islands Coastal Walk. It is a good path which goes across beaches and then over the top of headlands. Reasonably strenuous and a consistent sea breeze during summer. Nice to be able to access the walk from various points, so that different parts of the walk can be done on different visits. Incredible scenery. Take plenty of water and snacks as there are not really shops along the walk. Highly recommended.
