Vlychada beach is one of the largest beaches in Santorini and is located in the southern part of the island at a distance of 11 km from Fira. It is one of the most beautiful and impressive beaches of Santorini, as the volcanic white rocks that surround it and reach almost to the sea, remind of a lunar landscape. At the same time, the influence of the sea and the air, over the years, created various designs and caves on the rocks, which complete the really impressive scenery of the beach. The beach starts from the homonymous settlement, in which is the port where the fishing boats and yachts that visit the area moor. The beach has black sand and dark pebbles with the sea deepening quite quickly. It has an organized section and you will find umbrellas and sunbeds for rent but there is also space available to enjoy your swim with your own equipment, especially if you move to the west end of the beach which is more secluded and quiet. From the small bar that operates on the beach you will be able to get the essentials during your visit to it, while in the port of the settlement there are fish taverns to enjoy fresh fish and traditional delicacies after your swim.
