Paving the way forward is the newly stationed Barrelhouse Bar & Grill. Billing itself as a bar, grill and smokehouse, the team at Barrelhouse have injected a bit of colour and flavour to the neighbourhood with their Americana-inspired joint. Reminiscent of a Louisiana roadhouse, with a classic horseshoe bar, open kitchen/grill and buzzing neon signs, stepping inside the bar will quickly have you forgetting about the typical Scottish weather and will have you dreaming of long, hazy summer nights faster than you can say "Pass me a Bud, bud." There's a neat range of rye beers and cocktails behind the bar, all of which make perfect comrades to the food menu, which has roots across the Americas. Carnivorous types won't be disappointed by the meaty temptations on offer, from Tex-Mex staples like chilli beef tacos and burritos to classic sticky glazed wings and rustic jambalaya. Veggies and vegans need not fear however; there's an ever-changing range of options available for the herbi-lovin' crew too. With background vibes provided by a retro jukebox and local blues musicians, there's a lot to love about Barrelhouse.
