This is a great dog park if you have a pet with you, but they also have a truly wonderful picnic area (where dogs are not allowed) that's perfect for a sunny day. It can get quite busy here in the weekends.

Construction of the SH bypass has moved the entrance to the Groynes 300m further down Johns Road (State Highway 1) from the usual entrance on Groynes Drive. Metroinfo (external link) has up-to-date bus information. Picnics and play Picnic areas and free barbeques are dotted throughout the park. View the map [PDF, 659 KB] for bookable picnic areas or bbqs. Please remember to take your rubbish home with you. There are multiple playgrounds throughout the Groynes including a flying fox, see-saw, slides and swings. Orienteering There are two permanent courses; white (1.9 km) yellow (2.6 km). Lots of walking tracks and several playground spaces for kids. In the summer you can use the BBQs there and rent pedal boats and kayaks.
