A local favorite known for a well-curated cocktail list. They have a nice patio and reservations are available/highly recommended. They have a very small snacks menu (they source “chillitos” from Meats and Foods), but outside food is allowed. Proof of vaccination required to enter.

This is my absolute favorite bar in all of DC. It's simple, unassuming, 1 block from all the craziness of U Street/Shaw. It's like a nice bar from Brooklyn landed here. Always feels full, never packed

Local dive(ish) bar in the up-and-coming Howard/Shaw neighborhood. Perfect spot for a drink before a concert at 9:30 Club, Black Cat or the Howard Theatre.
