Take a walk amongst the cobbled streets of Old Town in Faro. Encounter centuries-old architectural sights, Roman passages, cozy cafes, and a lot of old history.

Walk the cobbled streets of Old Town Faro and encounter centuries-old architectural sights, Roman passages, cozy cafes, and a museum with archaeological findings. The site features the oldest horseshoe arch in Portugal and a 16th-century convent. Note the many houses decorated by flowers as well as the meandering paths and alleys; take a stroll down the shopping lane at the town center. You can have a meal at one of the typical Algarvian restaurants, or just grab a coffee along the riverfront. Old Town Faro is surrounded by a 9th Century Roman wall beautiful streets to explore ... one hidden gem is the Marina shopping center ... although it doesn't look like much from the outside ... take the escalator to the top floor and you will be greeted by the freshest of fish Portugal has to offer! The wonderful sales men and woman are all more than happy to help you make your purchase and clean out the fish if you require. Don't forget to ask for a bag of ice! My advice go straight for the sardines!

Here is the historic center of Faro. It is encircled by ancient city walls. Enjoy and wander inside with no rush. The area is relaxed and there are nice restaurants and bars.

Faro's downtown is a must-see spot for sightseeing, specially to see the sunset from the main church's rooftop or from O Castelo bar/restaurant. A cidade velha de Faro n\ao deverá ser perdida como ponto de visita, especialmente durante a hora do pôr-do-sol que poderá ser visto do topo da igreja principal (Sé) ou do bar/restaurante O Castelo.
