Off the normal path of the city, Bottom of the Hill feels like a real hometown spot. It’s the kind of place where you might catch a lineup of up-and-coming locals one night and then a national touring band the next. Famously, a young Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day threw a drum stool through the window. They pieced it back together. The left side of the room is merch and standing room; the right side is a hallway to the bar and back area. If you don’t like being jostled, stick to the left or the back of the room. If you smoke, or you just want some air, there’s a back patio where the crowd tends to move between sets.

This live music club isn't fancy, but hosts lots of indie bands that become cult favorites.
