A must see for visitors to Whitby accessed by the famous 199 steps next to the cottage. There's a modern interactive visitor centre and coffee shop, too. Various activities for children during the main holidays.

Currently you have to pre-book, but well worth a visit. English Heritage organise lots of events at the Abbey, which are great if you can catch one.

Whitby Abbey can be seen from most places in Whitby. Head up the 199 steps (you have to count them all, it's the rules!) to the old church and Abbey. Enjoy the gorgeous views of the coast and Whitby town. Spend time walking through the old graves and if you feel like it there is also a museum. If…

Another great historical visit. Best to park in the dedicated English Heritage carpark or walk up the famous 199 steps from Whitby old town.

“Modern children's play park- imaginative play for all ages. Land donated by Alderman Pannett for open space for public recreation and enjoyment, walking, jogging or resting. Large area of landscaped gardens, grassed areas, variety of trees, shrubs, herbs and flower beds. Jurassic-themed areas. ”
