I wouldn't call it a zoo, more like an open farm. Most 4 legged animals are fenced but it's a great place for kids, old and young. Its a drive into a land with no reception but they have wifi at the cafe. Free parking.
A nice combination of getting up close to animals, pioneer history and an enjoyable cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Take your time driving there as the farmland scenery is lovely as the road twists and turns up the Akatarawa valley.
If you want the chance to get up close and personal with nature, animals and beautiful scenery, this is your spot! The interaction opportunities with all sorts of farm and native animals will appeal to everyone.
