Dating from 1180, the castle of Culan still stands today its proud silhouette hanging from the rock overlooking the Arnon. It is a real castle which unfolds its 80 meters long façade, punctuated by powerful round towers crowned with wooden hoardings, unique in France. This seigniorial dwelling was the property of Minister Sully and the Prince de Condé. He received visits from famous people, including Joan of Arc, Louis XI, the Marquise de Sévigné, George Sand and Chopin. At the foot of the castle, various gardens of medieval inspiration combine aromatic, medicinal and ornamental plants, as well as a rose garden
