A foodies pub and restaurant in the very pretty village of Blanchland, booking recommended to avoid disappointment. It is a bit of a drive from the cottage (approx 50mins) but you will enjoy spectacular views across the open fells the pretty villages along the way.

Perfect stone built village square with newly (2014) refurbed historic pub. Some good walks nearby.

A former medieval priory that offers fantastic food in the bar and restaurant. Would recommend booking first!
