Ards Friary and Ards forest park are two of my favorite places to walk. The retreat Centre lies on the Wild Atlantic Way and is nestled in 200km of woodland on the shores of Sheephaven Bay. The beaches are stunning and it has a wonderful aura of calm even on a stormy day. Ards forest park has a large number of trails to choose from, giving the walker the opportunity to explore a variety of habitats from foreshore and sand dunes to semi natural oak woodlands on rock outcrops. It is possible to stitch together a number of trails that can take up to 6 hours, taking in the full circuit of the park. It cost 5 euro to enter the forest park and is well worth it. Facilities include, forest walks, car park, toilets, children's play area and a picnic site.
