Nach der Legende entdeckte Karl der Grosse die Gräber der Stadtheiligen Felix und Regula und liess eine erste Kirche als Chorherrenstift errichten. Zu Beginn des 16. Jhd. wurde das Grossmünster zum Ausgangspunkt der deutschschweizerischen Reformation unter Huldrych Zwingli und Heinrich Bullinger.

nice place to see the view, give it a ry and go to the top of one of the towers, you pay around 4CHF for entrance
