Explore the studios of E. I. Couse and J. H. Sharp, founding members of the Taos Society of Artists. These two painters helped create the cultural fabric of Taos and the West as we know it today. Visit the Couse home and see how these pioneer painters lived. Stand at Couse’s easel, see the model’s stage and props. All remains as it was 100 years ago.

Call ahead to book a tour of the homes of E. I. Couse and J. H. Sharp, two of the American-born, European-trained artists who formed the Taos Society of Artists in 1915. *On the first Saturday every October the “Mother Garden” of Taos will be highlighted as volunteers collect seeds and cuttings during the year and share them with community members and visitors. The seed and cuttings giveaway continues a tradition in remembrance of Virginia Walker Couse’s original generosity, which helped establish many Taos gardens.
