Australia’s oldest museum, which we call ‘the dinosaur museum’ because there’s an enormous skeleton hanging from the ceiling, has so much to see and do. There’s a soft, squishy area for tiny ones to dress up and play as well as sections for older kids: from rooms full of dead bugs and taxidermy to an interactive ‘river’ where a crocodile or shark pops up. On a rainy day, arrive right when the museum opens at 9:30 am to make sure you get in, especially if you want to see a special exhibition. The Domain Car Park nearby has a $19 early-bird day rate if you’re in before 9:30 am and leave between 3:30 and 7 pm.

“Visit the website to see what shows are playing and check show times. They also offer a tour package. If you don't need to go inside the Opera House, we also recomend having a drink or having a meal at the Opera Bar which is located just under the Opera House, with great views of the harbour.”
