The Fred Harvey Company first turned 'fast food' into a viable business. Railroad travelers stopped at locations like Winslow with 20 minute whistle stops. Now beautifully restored it is a gem.

Winslow is about an hour drive but worth it to visit this historic hotel and eat a beautiful meal. And, you can 'stand on the corner in Winslow, Arizona.'

Spend time walking around the historic grounds and viewing art as well as the well-stocked gift shop. Make sure to eat in the Turquoise Room restaurant while you're there!

Once again...I know you are here in Flagstaff...but you know you want to "stand on the corner in Winslow Arizona."... La Posada is an absolutely gorgeous hacienda dating back to the Harvey GIrl era and railroad travel. The hacienda style building features art work by in house artist TIna Mion. Her works are immense and intense. Wander thru the courtyards and gardens, browse the gift shop, explore the halls and artwork, Dine at the Turquoise room (truly unique and exquisite) stay the night in one of the historically themed rooms (past guests include Franklin D Roosevelt, Roy Rogers, John Wayne, Amelia Earhart), take the train from Flagstaff to Winslow! I go at least twice a year (after deep water soloing in Clear creek or climbing at Jack's canyon). You won't be disappointed.
