Just an hour south in Waco this location has many large fossils including some of the largest fossil marine turtles. Good day trip from your room.

Always a great place for families and small kids. Multiple floors of interactive displays for kids of all ages. Outdoor area that shows how it used to be when Waco was a frontier town.
