Most people do not think of beautiful sand beaches when they visit Alaska but little do they know Alaska has the largest coastline in the US. Our sandy beaches are a great way to spend a hot summer day playing in the sand and the waves or just go for a stroll up to the mouth of the river or down the way. In July you can be entertained for hours watching the dipnetters pull in their catch. Only a 20 minute drive north to kenai!

Kid friendly
This fun little park is a great place to let the kids run wild. They can climb trees, climb structures, play on bugs and go down the biggest slide in Kenai/Soldotna. The best part is it is only a block away from the unit.

It is the perfect place for young kids on a rainy day and while they are playing you can check out the other vendors in the Peninsula Center Mall. If you are looking for a nice day hike within town the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is perfect for a quick Alaskan jaunt. Be sure to stop in the visitors center to learn more about the Kenai Peninsula and let the kids play with the interactive exhibits. There are some great summer programs to learn about things like tie-flying, edible and medicinal plants, animals, etc. And there is a fantastic Alaska book shop in the visitors center.
