This is going to come up in most guidebooks, but there's a good reason. There is just something magical about the springs. Many locals say that the soul of Austin is the Springs, and I tend to agree. If you go before 8am or after 8pm, you experience a quiet calm that is difficult to find anywhere else.
Also -- its really cold.
