Red Hill Fire Tower Trail is a 3.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Grahamsville, New York that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

The Peekamoose Blue Hole is located in Sundown Wild Forest, set within the secluded wilderness of the Catskill Forest Preserve. The Blue Hole is a depression in the streambed rock of the Rondout Creek, a unique natural feature formed by sand and swirling gravel in an ancient whirlpool.
PLEASE NOTE: A $10 permit is now required for use of the entire Peekamoose Valley Riparian Corridor including the Peekamoose Blue Hole and must be acquired at least 24 hours in advance, but no more than a week in advance. More info here:

You can stop at the "Bald Eagle Watch" on Route 55A along the Rondout Reservoir. There is a very large eagle’s nest located near this sign which is a very popular area for locals and photographers!
Also, pull over anywhere along the Reservoir to catch one of the best sunsets in the Hudson Valley!

This brewery is about an 11 minute drive from our house. Since our house is secluded, this is the closest place to enjoy a sit-down meal (inside or outside seating) or a few local beers!
The Russian Mule Tasting Room at the Blue Hill Restaurant offers the many craft beers brewed by the Russian Mule Brewing Company. The Blue Hill Restaurant serves a variety of gourmet dishes prepared by Executive Chef William Mendez. Consistent with the Russian theme of art and beer, the menu also includes Irina’s “Taste of Russia” which has numerous Russian treats such as pelmeni and vareniki. If gourmet burgers, wood-fired flatbread pizza’s are more your style…they have that too! If you meet the manager Savannah, tell her the red hill house sent you :)

It has everything you need from groceries, supplies, alcohol as well as a deli where you can order hot sandwiches, pizza, or BBQ! This is the go-to spot if you just don't feel like cooking and want to grab a bite or if you want to pick up your cooking ingredients for your weekend stay! They carry all of the local favorites as well as popular brands such as West Kill Beer, La Colombe Draft Lattes, and Health-Ade Kombuchas!

This is the closest upscale restaurant to our cabin which we’ve been to many times and highly recommend. We love sitting at the bar for their oyster happy hour and glass of wine!
