Sourdough pizza dough. Nuff said. The pizza is delicious, and the calzones, strombolis, grinders and salads are just as impressive. Seriously some of the best pizza you will find anywhere in Central TX.

Really cool park with hiking and swimming that feels like you’re transported into another world. An underground aquifer bubbles up in this area and makes for a Jurassic, jungle feel.

This is a famous hat maker that has made hats for tons of famous country musicians. He may be most famous for Stevie Ray Vaughan‘s black vaquero hats. You can’t go in the shop without an appointment, and the hats are not cheap, but they are custom-made. A lifetime investment.

City/town information

San Marcos is a college town, about 20 mins West, that hugs the San Marcos River. There are tons of entry points along the river park to jump in, swim, fish or tube. The water is very clear and bubbles up from underground aquifers of the Colorado. You'll see Texas wild rice growing, the river bottom is home to an endangered pink salamander. Take a glass-bottom boat tour at the Meadows Center to see the wildlife underwater. You can also walk around the town square for gift shops, restaurants and a peek at college life.
