North Belongil Beach - The nearest beach
1.2 km walk
North Belongil Beach is about a 1 km walk or cycle from our place. The beach access path is just off to the right after walking past Elements Resort. If feeling adventurous you can walk from this beach all the way into town - crossing Belongil Creek on a low tide. The walk into town is about 30 - 40 minutes or so. You can catch the Solar Train back.

Other local beaches & walks
The Cape Byron Lighthouse loop walk is approx 4 km. You can park at Captain Cook Carpark for a parking fee (or along the road is free and up Lee Lane there is free parking). From the carpark cross the road and walk up Lee Lane. You will see signed walking track starts here; walking up through the bush track to the Lighthouse (there are toilets here, water and a Cafe) and then down the path to Little Wategoes Beach (there is a coffee and snack van here parked out front of Rae's) then to Wategoes Beach (if low tide walk around the rocks, if high tide get back on the path). From Wategoes Beach follow the path over to The Pass (there is a Cafe here) and then back along the beach a little until you see the timber stairs at left that take you back up to Captain Cook Carpark. You can also pick up the walking track at other carparks at The Pass and Wategoes or Clark's beach.

Broken Head Reserve RoadBroken Head walking track is a stunning walk along the headland. You'll need a car to get to this beach. Park next to the Broken Head caravan park. The entrance to the Nature Reserve is up to the left on the grassy area. Follow the signs along the track to the headland where the 3 sisters (rocks) can be seen. From here you can continue down the steep track to the little beach cove (on low tide) for a swim and even continue walking along the beach to the next beach, which is Kings Beach. Follow the beach back the way you came to return.

I go here to do the loop walk which starts at the top of the falls lookout and meanders down a well trodden track to the base of the falls. Bring your swimmers for a cool dip if feeling adventurous. Then the track leads back up to the Minyon Falls Grass Area. From here you need to walk along the road (watch out for passing cars) to get back to the top of the waterfall and carpark where you parked. Bring a picnic.
