Killhope is a multi-award winning 19th century mining museum in the centre of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), where you can experience the life and work of the lead mining families of the North Pennines. Over the hill you'll find Weardale, an area rich with industrial history. Killhope Museum recreates a historic lead mine, with miner's cottages and offers the chance to go on a mine tour - take your wellies!

Take a guided tour with or without the kids at this lead mine museum. With a cafe on site it makes a nice little trip up the dale for children and adults alike. Roughly 20 mins drive up the dale.
