Olhos de Água beach is very traditional with its fishing boats and a series of fishing huts still used by the old fishermen. The beach is surrounded by the regions characteristic red sandstone cliffs, the sand is gold and the waters are clear.
The name of the beach is taken from a special natural phenomenon that you can observe when the tide is down. The retreating tide uncovers a number of springs, from which fresh water bubbles up. Local we call them "Olhos d'Água", meaning "Eyes of water".
