This Mosque was built by the famous architect Paul Böhm, who is from a traditional family of architects - the Böhms have built many important christian churches but this is maybe the first contemporary mosque in Germany ever. You can visit and get inside, the mosque however is controversial since Ditib, the club who runs the mosque, is linked to Erdogans turkish government and is criticized for stopping the integration process of turkish minority in Germany and rather widening the gap. Erdogan opened the Mosque himself in 2018, a day when almost everything in Cologne was in state of Emergency.
