A true history buff can't miss Fort Mims. It's not super exciting for kids (just being honest, here), but the site is truly significant. Montgomery Hill Baptist Church is near and is also worth a stop if you're in the area.

On the way you can stop at Stagecoach Cafe and have some great fried chicken! Fort Mims is a longish drive and has an interesting history, but if you are crunched for time you might want to put this one on the back burner.
