The "Oude Kerk", also known as the "Oude Jan" or the "Scheve Jan" is the older of the two churches in Delft. Its history reaches back to 1246. While still an actively used church, it is also a museum. The Dutch "Zeehelden" or Buccaneers are buried here and there are plenty of fascinating stories about their exploits. Also buried in this church is Jan Vermeer, painter of the famous "Girl with the Pearl Earring" which is exhibited in the Mauritshuis in Den Haag. When looking at the tower of the church -- can you see how it leans? It is said that its angle is more than that of the leaning tower of Pisa.
