Triester Strasse bei 52 the gothic statue was erected in 1451/52 by master builder Puchsbaum (stephan's cathedral). Several legends surround this 16 meter high column. For centuries, the notorious place of execution with gallows was located here.

It is a stone-tower sculpture (over 600-years-old, 1375). The purpose of this limestone pillar was to mark the southern border of Vienna and also provide a navigational landmark for faring folk.
