Historic area with 180-degree city view Hilltop park since 1937 offering panoramic city views, hiking paths, & dog-off-leash & picnic areas.
Challenging Hike, this place is straight uphill. Over 100 years ago there was a trolly that came up here to a large amusement park. The Farris Wheel, which was made of wood, was hit by lightening several times and rebuilt before the current monument was erected. Beautiful views of the East and West.
This nearby park (2 minute drive if you don't get lost!) rests in a residential neighborhood on top of the hill. It is best to visit on a clear day where you can see the peaks of several cascade mountains and generally get the lay of the land on where the rivers are and the direction of everything…
Best views on a clear day. see Mt hood, Mt Adams, Mt St Helens, Mt Jefferson and Mt Ranier. As well as most of Portland
