Pourquoi les habitants le recommandent

This quaint little space in historic West Village mimics the taste and nostalgia of the South while at the same time providing an amazing amount of nutrition with an entirely vegan menu. It’s owned by two black women—Kirsten Ussery and Erika Boyd—who decorated with romanticized portraits of Detroit street signs and famous icons from the city. The real kicker is the seitan pepper steak—it’s served over brown rice, and the texture of whatever vegetarian product they use to make the steak is so identifiable that it would fool even the most serious carnivore.

Its vegan...but it's vegan SOUL ! This place is popular even for non vegetarians and for good reason. I highly recommend DVS; and it's right down the street! *note Check the times because they often close early.

Yum! Really great food and service. East-side location closed during pandemic, so now only the west-side location is open
