The Yrjönkatu swimming hall, one of Helsinki residents’ favourite places, will be overhauled in the coming years. The City of Helsinki will improve the swimming hall’s services and renovate the facilities. Construction is estimated to begin in the spring of 2024, lasting for roughly two years. Built in 1928, Yrjönkatu Swimming Hall is the oldest public swimming hall in Finland. The architecture of the building is historically and artistically noteworthy, representing a fine example of Classicism. Over the decades it has retained its original appearance, and after the renovations which - began in 1997 - the fantastically restored hall was reopened in October 1999. There are separate swimming sessions for men and women, with bathers having the choice of whether to wear a swimming costume or not. The option to wear a swimming costume became available from September 2001. On the second floor you'll find a steam sauna as well as wood and electrically heated saunas. Between swimming and sauna on the 2nd floor you can relax in your own cabin and enjoy the menu of Café Yrjö.

My favourite place to relax! Take your girlfriends (or boy gang) on a simple spa treatment - naked. Go to the small Yrjönkatu swimming center's second floor for around 15 euros - get slippers, towel, bathrobe and enjoy different saunas and swimming pool. Have a beer or something small to eat. You can have your swimsuit on, but most of the people are naked. And yes - it's separated by days for women and men :) Women on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Notice! Closed during summer times!
