this is the bridge were the spies were traded out between east and west and also the first barrier to break open, once the wall came down

It’s a very historical place, as this was the first place/gate opened, on the 9th of November 1989, when the wall came down. It’s just around the corner. Around 10min walking.

On the evening of November 9, 1989 the border crossing at Bornholmer Straße station was the first to open, allowing East Berliners to pass freely towards the west.
