Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area provides a unique opportunity to experience tranquil landscapes, rich human history, and striking scenery along 40 miles of the longest free-flowing river east of the Mississippi. The park offers year-round recreation including hiking, paddling, fishing, and hunting.

elaware Water Gap National Recreation Area - Beach Soak up the sun at Milford or Smithfield Beach! The recreation area staffs Milford Beach and Smithfield Beach with lifeguards during the summer. Lifeguards are on duty weekends from mid-June through August. Beach fees are charged April through October. Restroom and picnic facilities are available, but dogs and alcohol are prohibited. Swimming elsewhere is not recommended, as strong currents, sharp drop-offs, and constantly changing river conditions make many areas unsafe for swimming.
