Suggested route through Chinatown ... - Walk East (left out door) on Spring to Mott - Walk down Mott until it ends, stopping along the way at New York Mart supermarket south of Grand - Have lunch at DimSum Go Go - Walk West to the 9/11 Memorial pools - Head home

Vibrant Chinatown is a densely populated neighborhood that draws foodies and tourists to its many Chinese and Southeast Asian restaurants for dumplings, pork buns and hand-pulled noodles. The busy sidewalks are packed with souvenir stores, bubble tea shops, and markets selling everything from fresh and dried fish to herbs and spices. Locals hang out in leafy Columbus Park for Tai Chi, chess and mahjong.

Pell street is the best for salons and beauty treatments. Fantastic dumplings and Chinese food!

Also within walking distance. Having grown up in Chinatown myself, I fear I would get carried away describing it. Here is the official description offered by NYC. Home to a dense population of Asian immigrants, Manhattan’s Chinatown is one of NYC's most evocative neighborhoods. Walking its busy, narrow streets reveals surprise after surprise: Chatham Square’s statue of Lin Zexu, a Qing dynasty official who led the fight against Britain’s illegal importation of opium; the odd pagoda-style roof and Buddhist temple; and atmospheric Doyers Street, with its basement bars and a speakeasy among them. Come hungry and work your way through the many dim sum palaces, dumpling dens and inexpensive noodle joints.
