This is a very photogenic lake. Almost 3 hours drive from the unit. On a road trip day, we'll hit Peyto lake for some epic shots, and then a few stops on the way back (Lake Louise, Bow River Falls, dinner in Canmore). Light on activity, heavy on epic views.

Peyto Lake is one of the most iconic lakes in the Canadian Rockies. A 95 minute drive from our cabin, this vibrant blue glacier-fed lake is a must see in Banff National Park and a popular stop for visitors travelling along the Icefields Parkway. A short walk from the parking lot takes you to a elevated viewpoint of a dazzling turquoise lake with its contour the shape of a wolf/dog.

Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The lake itself is near the Icefields Parkway. It was named for Bill Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area.
