One of the three largest churches of Santorini and the parish church of Exo Gonia. In the spring, during the Greek Orthodox Easter, the Tower is transformed into the most enchanting place. On Good Friday, the procession of the Epitaph starts from the narrow streets of the Tower and crosses the whole village, which the inhabitants decorate with lighted candles along the hill and, holding lighted candles, follow the procession of the procession with reverence. The atmosphere is all-encompassing and it is really a shocking spectacle to observe the village shining by candlelight, giving ‘breath’ to the allegory of the Divine Resurrection, turning night into day. On Easter Sunday, in the main square of the village, the residents celebrate with fireworks and indulge in the traditional skewering and roasting of the spear, accompanied by other local recipes and local wine, from which of course music and dance could not be missing.
