Ride the steam train to Elgin The steam train bound for Elgin departs from the Harbour Bridge Hotel in Foreshore, Cape Town at 8am. It arrives at the ELGIN RAILWAY market at 11.30am, giving passengers time to explore before heading back to the Mother City in time for a 5.30pm arrival. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of mountains, endless rolling hills – and even spot a few sheep and cows along the way. Operating times for the steam train Saturday, 8am – 5.30pm Sundays & some weekdays during December–January summer holidays Cost R750 (adults, return); R500 (children 3 – 13 years, return); free (children 0 – 2 years)

Take a trip into the old world through beautiful mountain passes and local markets. These old stream trains have a few destination including ceres, Simons town and Elgin. Check website or better yet call for current schedules and booking.
