The old railway line has been abandoned and converted into a bike riding and a walking track. Well played the track goes for miles.
From Leongatha to Welshpool you can cycle on a easy/moderate trail through forests, paddocks, alongside townships all with great views.
Extending 72km between Leongatha and Port Welshpool, the GSRT is perfect for walking, biking or horseriding. The trail around Foster is particularly beautiful and can be accessed near the old Foster station on the corner of Station St and Lower Franklin Rd. Local cafes can easily be incorporated into your rail trail journey, with a particular favourite including breakfast at Moos at Meeniyan and lunch at the Koonwarra Store. Bike/Walking on former rail line. The Great Southern Rail Trail extends from Leongatha to Toora (75km). The mostly flat or gently undulating trail goes through lush dairy farmland, areas of remnant bush and lowland scrub. It climbs from the foothills of Fish Creek up past Mount Hoddle and then down a steep descent through dense forest out into magnificent views of Wilsons Promontory and Corner Inlet.
