Waterrock Knob Trail is a 0.9 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Waynesville, North Carolina that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Relatively close overlook on the parkway. Take a picnic to have on the lawn or hike 1/2 mile up trail to overlook. Short but moderately challenging. M

This overlook is not open during the winter months. Awesome place to see some beautiful sunsets. The hike is short but strenuous.

A plane crash that occurred in November 1983 is a great hike that starts at Watercock Knob/ Plott Balsam Trail one of WNC's most popular outdoor destinations. The views are spectacular along with the wildlife and flowers you will see.

Even if you don't hike, the views from the parking lot are stunning. It is only 30 minutes away from the cabin and you will not regreat!
