The B&O Railroad Museum is a museum exhibiting historic railroad equipment in Baltimore, Maryland. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad company originally opened the museum on July 4, 1953 with the name of the Baltimore & Ohio Transportation Museum.
If you’re a train aficionado—or have a kid who’s all about the choo-choo—get yourself on track to visit the B&O Museum, which has the largest collection of 19th century locomotives in the country. The collection is housed in the original, eye-catching roundhouse built in 1884. The museum collects artifacts related to early American railroading, Baltimore & Ohio (America’s first commercial railroad), Chesapeake & Ohio, Western Maryland, and other Mid-Atlantic rail systems. See, touch, and explore all kinds of items and hop on the Mile One Express, a 20-minute roundtrip train ride along the first commercial mile of railroad track, laid in 1830.
