Dramatic scenery in the gorge carved by the river Hasdate in the Trascaului Mountains. Great place to visit. Suitable for everyone. Good spot for rock climbing (all levels), paragliding and trekking. One via ferrata and a zip line available. Food and toilets available most of the year at the south entrance in the gorge.
The Turda Gorge was formed as a result of limestone erosion during the Jurassic period, having a length of approximately 2 km and a vertical expansion of almost 200 meters. The area has a very large variety of karst landforms and a flora comprising over 1000 species.
A place of rare natural beauty a mere 35 km away from Cluj-Napoca, the Turda Gorge is excellent hiking grounds for explorers of any fitness level. Persevere all the way to the top (which shouldn't take more than an hour) and enjoy some incredible, sweeping views of the green surroundings. Sundays here tend to be the busiest.
