Tropicana is a famous Cuban cabaret created in 1939, in Havana, in the Marianao area, specifically in the Playa municipality. It is known as "a paradise under the stars", it was built outdoors in a wooded area taking advantage of the cool of the trees, becoming a completely different from the traditional cabaret. It was its author Max Borges y Recio. He was his promoter Víctor de Correa. Martin Fox was his renovator and managed the new era of the cabaret. Fox hired Roderico Neyra, "Rodney," in 1952, who began working as a choreographer. During the Republican era he was characterized by the game, drinks and almost naked women and he was attended by politicians, gangsters, Hollywood artists and American sailors. He was nourished by ballet, circus, carnival, boleros, cha cha cha to achieve his creative artistic show, whose fame has traveled the world. In their scenarios countless Cuban stars have acted as well as other international ones. It is nuanced by Cuban folklore, for its color, variety of rhythms, the beauty and grace of its dancers and the quality of its artists. The show's musical director is Chuchito Valdés, the son of Chucho Valdés.
